What sets apart a break even player and one who is crushing the game?

The answer is CRUSHERS pick up pots that don't belong to them!

If all we could do was value bet each other, we'd be totally dependent on the luck of the draw. Poker would be no different from roulette.

But we can steal pots that don't belong to us. That is the whole reason why poker is a game of skill.

Look at these two graphs. One is from a slightly winning player. One is from a crusher.

Hands Played: 100,000+

Profit: £1,409.55 ($1,639.37)

Hands Played: 52,675

Profit: £7,472.10 ($8,689.27)

The blue line is chips won at showdown. That comes from value betting and tabling the best hand.

Both players have a similar blue line.

The red line is chips won without showdown. That line is generated from picking up pots without tabling our hand.

That is the key difference between what these two players are doing. It's why one will be stuck at 50nl forever and the other is playing 200 Zoom.

These two graphs also happen to be for the same player, just weeks apart.
